Goal of the Game

The main goal of Rummy game is to arrange your 13 cards into valid groups which are known as Sequences and Sets. The first person need to arrange all their cards correctly and “Declare” wins the game.

Important Terms to Know

You should know three basic things to play like a master which are as follows:

  • Pure Sequence: Three or more cards of the same suit should be in a row like 5, 6, 7 of Hearts. You should not use Joker here.
  • Impure Sequence: This is a sequence that uses Jokers to replace missing cards such as the 4, 5 and joker of spades.
  • Set: It uses three or four cards of the same rank but different suits such as 8 of hearts, 8 of spades and 8 of diamonds.

Steps to Play WinZO Rummy

When the game starts, every player gets 13 cards. Here is how the round goes:

Step 1: Sorting Your Cards

As soon as you get your cards, look for a “Sort” button on the WinZO screen. Clicking this will automatically group cards of the same suit together. This makes it quite easy to see what you have.

Step 2: Drawing and Discarding

You must do two things on your turn such as:

Take a card: Pick a card from the closed deck where the card is not visible for you or from the open deck where you can see the card is thrown by the previous player.

Throw a card: After choosing a card you will have 14 cards. You must choose one card you do not need and Discard it into the open deck.

Step 3: Using the Joker

One card is randomly selected in every game as the Wild Joker. Then all 7s in the game act as Jokers if the 7 of Diamonds is the Joker. You can use them to finish any sequence or set.

Step 4: Making a Declaration

You can hit Declare once you arrange all 13 cards into valid sequences and sets.

Important Rule: You must have a minimum of two sequences. One of them must be a Pure Sequence (no Joker) to win the game. Otherwise your declaration will be invalid and you will lose points if you do not have a Pure Sequence.

Simple Tips for Beginners

  • Finish the Pure Sequence first: Do not wait. Simply try to make your Pure Sequence at the very start so that your point load stays low.
  • Discard High Value Cards: Throw your Kings, Queens or Aces away early if they are not forming a sequence. This will help you to not lose a lot of points if someone else wins.
  • Watch the Opponent: Look at the cards which is picked by your opponent from the open deck. It gives you a hint about what they are trying to build.
